Genital warts are basically bumps that can be found in the genital areas of both men and women. These genital warts are caused by the HPV or human papilloma virus that affects more and more individuals as the years pass by. The reason behind why the widespread of this condition is increasing in number is simply because aside from the genital warts, there are no more evidences that could be found to diagnose the condition. The genital warts can sometimes be hard to detect as it may appear to be very small or even unnoticeable at times. Therefore, the individual affected with the condition may not even know that he or she is affected, as well as they will have no idea that they are already transmitting the disease to other persons. Transmission can be done through sexual intercourse, be it with the opposite or the same sex. For some pregnant women, the virus can be transmitted to their newborn when the newborn passes through the vagina during the child giving process.

Therefore, once suspected of the condition, make sure to have yourself examined and learn ways on how to treat genital warts as recommended by your physician. For the condition to be diagnosed, physical assessment and examination should be done. For women, a pelvic examination should be done. Since the genital warts are unseen by the naked eyes at times, the need for the magnification of the skin is required as to make the skin visible. For some, an acetic acid solution would be poured on the area as to make the wart more visible on the skin. Aside from this, a PAP smear can also be done to detect the genital warts. Nonetheless, prevention is still better than cure, therefore it would be very wise if you take on actions as not to contract the disease. The very advice to prevent transmission of the virus is by the use of condoms during sexual intercourse. Avoid having multiple partners as well because this will increase your chances of having HIV.
