HPV genital warts do not always cause discomfort or require treatment. Sometimes HPV genital warts bring discomfort or embarrassment to a patient. If treatment is necessary there are many methods to chose from. These methods range from surgery to prescription creams to natural home remedies. There are many remedies that can be tried at home without a prescription. These include tea tree oil, vitamin E or crushed garlic. The tea tree oil, vitamin E or garlic is placed directly on the genital warts. This is usually done for several days or weeks. Other home remedies include eating foods that are high in vitamin C, drinking a lot of water and limiting processed foods.

At home remedies are usually not as effective or quick as treatments done by a physician or prescription medicines. A doctor can prescribe treatment for warts that do not go away with home remedies. There are several creams that can be applied directly to the genital warts. Some creams are applied in the doctors office by the physician while others are applied at home by the patient. Depending on which type is prescribed there may be several treatments or only one.
